A Sleek Dilophosaur by pilsator A Sleek Dilophosaur by pilsator
The internet is back, and so am I to this community with something I drew yesterday. And although it's not necessarily true of the execution and the scan quality, it is of the Dilophosaurus portrayed here: s/he's a beauty.

I really like it, although the scanner once again swallowed up much of the shading. I like the facial pattern, I like the fact that it expands onto the crests - not much of an option to show a "uniformly bright red" crest with a black pencil -, and although countershading has gotten out of style, I think it works well here. The midline row of scutes atop its tail is based on that thing from Russia everyone wants to see. Why not put it on a theropod, too.

Thanks go to GSP for the skeletal.

Thanks! I'm not so sure about the arms and stuff, but it's great to hear you like it.

Yeah, I remember that too. In this case, I just liked the general shape of Dilophosaurus.

It probably won't be the last non-averostran neotheropod/borderline averostran that I'll draw, so there will be more of that. I just don't know how long it will take.

Funny, I actually have a half-finished Dilophosaurus sitting around that is almost identicle to this. The only major difference is that yours has filiments on the lateral surface of the tail whereas in mine it's all reticulated. In any case, very nice as usual!

Thanks! And I'd really like to see your Dilophosaurus too. Maybe keeping the entire tail bare of feathers would have been more parsimonious... I don't know. W4TP time again.
