The Chronically Misnamed One by pilsator The Chronically Misnamed One by pilsator
You make implicit assumptions about who's my sister without ever having told me why, all while my metapodials sent you fapping in 1972. So when what you dubbed my pennibrachiae make your jaws drop, at least don't call me edmontonicus, and better make a case why I should be Ornithomimus at that.

Taxonomic sources for this shocking statement:

Refs by GSP. The fact that no one quite knows what to do with those proto-primaries/secondaries allows me to draw them this semi-"ratite" way. They were more bushy in the beginning, but they visually sucked so hard I couldn't stand up for them. I know the full run is a dead pose, but I was gonna draw this animal in profile view anyway, and I couldn't think of a better one with possibly more body reconstructions of more ornithomimosaurs upcoming. It's NMC 12228 while we're at that.

Thanks! That's what happens if I draw a theropod and don't know what to do once its outline is done. I'm glad you're of the opinion that this one's color pattern is good ;)

Very nice! Probably my favorite rendition of the new paper so far. I always love how elegant and streamlined your theropods look. I agree the feet stand out as being particularly well-rendered, but I like how you did the plumage a lot too. Your dinosaur 'wings' always look very natural to me.

Well, thanks a lot, Emily! I do tend to draw my theropods the way I imagine them, and I imagine most of them as fairly elegant animals; thanks too for the plumage comment, although I still don't fully understand how to do "good" wings (like, say, you or Matt Martyniuk - not just on a skill level, but also on a "comprehension" level).

I second what Kazanlak said. Your theropod's feet are the best! :D

Awesome. And here's an odd thing to zero in on, but typically excellent work on the lower limbs. One thing about your art that's always jumped at me out is how well you render theropod legs and feet.

Thanks, Kaz! I actually think that you like them - you're actually not the first to say that - is causally related to me finding them very easy to draw. The plumage in this one looks far less convincing, and I struggled a lot with it, especially with the wings :/
